This paper was for an English course. The assignment was to write a paper on an issue, situation, or problem that had some interest to us, and it was called, Problem/Solution Essay.

I chose this paper because I think it is the best paper I have written thus far and I am proud of the work that I completed. I chose the topic of alcoholism because alcohol is a huge problem in a lot of families and especially Native American families. My family has a history with alcohol related issues, and I am blessed and very thankful to say that no one in my family currently uses. I have recently

My thoughts about the work I put into this assignment is that it was one of the most difficult and time-consuming papers that I have done in any class I’ve taken. This paper took a lot of time to research and many hours/days of editing.

The whole paper pieced together well. I was nervous that my final paper might sound boring, but I think it came out better than I expected. Having an organizational pattern to follow was very helpful. I am most proud that I completed a 10-page essay. I would have never thought I could do something like this.

The areas I can improve on would be in grammar and clear organizational formatting. In this class we had to format our papers in either MLA or APA and at the time I used MLA in most of my courses. If I were to do it again, I would use APA since that is required.

After completing this paper, I learned how to analyze and properly cite, and how to write a paper using an organizational guide. I grew a deeper understanding of how much time and effort it takes to write a paper using the proper guidelines and rules. This paper will help me to understand ways to apply professional development and awareness when it comes to communication and psychological literacy.

As I move forward after this experience, I realize that I can use this experience as a life learned skill. Doing the research and having the knowledge I gained from it all can be of value in demonstrating my passion to help people who are in need of support.
